HELP FOR THE HOLIDAYS 2005: The Massachusetts Motorcycle Survivor's Fund (MMSF), a non-profit organization formed to assist families affected by motorcycle fatalities is proud to announce that they will allocate up to $10,000 in aid for families of motorcyclists in need this holiday season.  Board members voted to allocate the funds due to the overwhelming success of the Nelson's Ride, its raffle for a trip to Daytona Beach’s “Biketoberfest” and a measurable decrease in motorcycle fatalities throughout Essex County in 2005.

"This is for the riders families in need and their kids at Christmas time," said Chris Cerino of Essex, the Survivor's Fund out-going Treasurer.

"We had a good year with limited fatalities reported and the tremendous support of Nelson's Ride at the Topsfield Fairgrounds and our trip to Daytona Beach raffle.  At Christmas time, we know some motorcyclists’ families could use the extra help and there is no sense in us sitting on these funds when they're in need," echoed Board Member Vince Silvia of Haverhill.

The Board voted to allocate up to $250 per child.  They expect to help 10-20 area families.

Motorcyclists wishing to apply for assistance, in confidence, can obtain an application by writing the MMSF at Post Office Box 427, Salem, MA 01970, or on line at www.MassMSF.org or www.NelsonsRide.org or by contacting MMSF President Paul W. Cote in Amesbury at 978-388-3629.  Cycles 128! – on Brimbal Avenue in Beverly also has applications .  All applications should reach the MMSF by December 19th.

"We want to thank all the drivers out there who helped reduce accidents with motorcycles this season," said Joe "Sarge" Komola of Tewksbury, who heads up safety, education, and awareness for the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association and serves on the Survivor's Fund Board.

The Motorcyclists Survivor's Fund, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was established in 2003 to help families of riders killed in accidents and to promote motorcycle safety & awareness to reduce those accidents.  It presently operates in Essex County, Massachusetts, with an all-volunteer Board of Directors and events planning committee.  For more information, see www.MassMSF.org
